The History of Pemberton
Pemberton is a village 25 minutes north of Whistler Blackcomb, in the Pemberton Valley of BC with a population of 2, 000 people.
Pemberton village could only be accessed by train until 1960 when  Hwy 99 was built from Whistler.
Pemberton is is in a rain shadow and renowned for its wide valley and fertile farmland
The climate of Pemberton is warm and dry in the summer, and mild and wet in the winter approx 5'c warmer than Whistler Blackcomb.
Pemberton was named after Joseph Despard Pemberton, a surveyor for the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1850’s. Joesph Pemberton had laid out Victoria’s townsite and supervised the building of B.C.’s first legislative building
The village of Pemberton has a charming, rustic in appearance that looks like the set of an Old West movie. This is partial deliberate (for tourism) but is also a legacy of the area’s roots as part of the Lillooet Country and its ranching and mining culture.
Pemberton is growing at a rapid rate, outpacing that of Whistler (a rate of 7.3% since 2003 while Whistler is 0.5%) with young families.
A small airport that services commuter-sized planes and private jets serves as the airstrip for Whistler and Pemberton . There are no scheduled flights into Pemberton Airport.
Pemberton weddings , with the backdrop of Mount Currie mountain, are considered to be some of the most beautiful and unique in the world.
Places to see in Pemberton: North Arm Farm, One Mile Lake, Nairn Falls, Big Sky Golf Course, and the Mt Currie Coffee Shop.
